Promega Maxwell game

Overview

Promega is a global leader in providing innovative solutions and technical support to the life sciences industry.

Promega Corporation’s products enable scientists worldwide to advance their knowledge in life science research.

The Brief

Promega UK asked Worksunit to develop an online environment for their flash based Maxwell game currently being used at road show events across the UK to engage prospective customers. The main objective for the campaign was data capture and to increase awareness of their Maxwell product offering.

Players are asked to register before accessing the game and strict email validation was required as the prize is only available to life science professionals. All artwork had to mirror the existing game assets and Maxwell product branding however it still had to reflect the fun of the game and create an impact online.

A leader board facility had to be created to allow scores to be recorded so Promega could award the prize to the player with the highest score.

Our Solution

A large part of this project relied on clever design and effective integration of the flash game.

We endeavoured to make the design reflect all the fun of the game, using the Professor as a larger than life character, while sticking to the branding of the Maxwell 16 product and creating an online environment that engages the player.

Cross browser testing revealed an issue when the game was loading so adding a fun loader image helped to provide a smooth transition for the player from the registration screen to the game.

Registration is easy and not too time consuming, with a fun test tube element added to the validation.

The leader board facility allows player’s to keep an eye on how they are performing and a database captures player’s details along with their current score to allow Promega to inform the winner when the competition closes.

Complementary promotional assets were also designed to be used in the launch of the game for example, an email template; various flash banners; print material in the form of promotional postcards and even an email signature! All the assets carried across the same fun design and we hope will prove engaging for the customers and encourage them to play
